using thesaurus.com and four other research tabs

as I compose a description to accompany “vauxhall & I” by morrissey, which I will send to thesistatement, and it will change his life. well, my description won’t change his life no matter how much I use a thesaurus, but the album might.

morrissey education is very serious business. just ask michaelpop, who received two mix cd’s packed with songs and a ticket to an upcoming gig at the wiltern when he expressed the tiniest bit of interest back in 2004.

southpaw grammar story

michaelclair replied to your post: feeling slightly better today

Whoa! I never hear anyone talk about Southpaw Grammar, a critically underrated Moz record.

ok, don’t even get me started. I fucking love southpaw grammar.

I will be honest and say it was kind of a non-album for me for a long time, I didn’t love it and I didn’t hate it. however, during the tour in 2000 I believe, “the teachers are afraid of the pupils” (link goes to a live fan video, it’s actually pretty good, though moz shortened the intro this particular time) was often the set opener. if it wasn’t the first song, it was somewhere in the set. it was just so jarring to begin a night with, or even just to stick in between other songs, I loved it so much.

I loved looking around when the song would start to see the faces of people who hadn’t been going to a bunch of gigs that tour - wrinkled up noses, or just complete surprise, “he’s playing THIS!??!” and then after it finished they’d say “THAT WAS AWESOME”. anyway, it got me listening to southpaw grammar more and since then it’s one of my favorite albums of his.

I’ll always stay true to you

so, morrissey’s coming to san antonio in november, for the first time in some 18 years. he’s played austin a few times, and several other cities, just not san antonio.

he’ll be at a gorgeous venue downtown, where the symphony and operas and broadway touring shows are at. it’s not very big. definitely not big enough for him.

a local radio show apparently snagged some tickets to give away before they go on sale, and me being the dumbass I am, I stayed up to try to win them last night. I’m broke and don’t have $200 to drop on tickets, even though I will if I have to.

it brought back memories of calling KROQ in my teens over and over trying to win weenie roast tickets or no doubt tickets. I got discouraged a lot faster than I did in those days. they offered to give away some tickets to the morrissey-related postings they liked best on their facebook page. my tattoos are the best, obviously, but I didn’t win a damn thing.

I’m tired as hell today because going into last night I was already dealing with lack of sleep. morrissey, I would only do this bullshit for you. there is nobody else I’ll go through just about anything to see, even though I’ve seen you almost forty times over the past 15 years. I hope you know that, cranky old man.

morrissey tales of a thirty one year old misanthrope

morrissey is a good reminder

of everything I really am.

I am rarely happier than nights I spend at his shows. in the last few years it was too easy to forget that; I’m not able to spend the time and money to follow him around and see 5+ shows every tour anymore. but each time I go, it feels like home. I walked into the majestic theatre tonight by myself, and saw brigitte bardot singing “bubble gum” projected on the backdrop for the millionth time during intermission. it made me smile and I was instantly at ease. I was home.

listening to morrissey makes me feel like everything’s going to be okay because he understands how I feel and has no qualms telling me so. he feels like he doesn’t belong a lot of the time, and it’s okay that I don’t either.

“you do all that you do, because it’s all you can do.”
