Considering Zack is the only reason I give a shit about the Royals - it says something about a player, if he has that kind of draw to otherwise ambivalent baseball fans - I definitely echo the sentiments in this post.
Rick didn’t win Rookie of the Year, which I kind of expected. That’s fine, though I was a bit disappointed. There’s still a ton of rumors swirling around a bunch of Tigers and I just wish the managers would make a move already. The off-season is so annoying sometimes. Cy Young awards come out today, and I have a photo of a certain badass that I have been dying to use (hint: he’s not a Tiger), so hopefully that will go up later.
I’ve got my flight booked for spring training, arriving in Lakeland March 10 and leaving the 15th. Between now and then (which seems like an eternity), I’ll outline what games it’ll involve - so far all I know for sure is Yankees, Phillies, and Rays - and hopefully set up some sort of format for blogging about what I see. That stuff will go on here as well as Bless You Boys, my main spot for baseball nerding amongst other people.
I also set up a twitter for this blog. I assume not many people read so it’s kind of pointless, but I am going to try to spread the word in the least annoying ways possible for spring training, and it might come in handy for people who 1) don’t want me clogging up their google reader, 2) only want to read posts that are about baseball and 3) vice versa. The link to that is here. Please note that I took several minutes to make sure its colors are the same as those used on this tumblr.
I suppose that’s it for now. Posts feel weird when they don’t contain a photo, so here’s a gratuitous shot I took of Clete Thomas being Clete Thomas.
We’re starting a limited test of notifications on twitter.com for when you have new tweets. So if one of the folks you follow has tweeted since you loaded your homepage, you’ll get a little notice saying “1 new tweet” that, when clicked, will display the new content.
We think it improves the tweet consumption experience and hope to roll it out to everyone as soon as we can.
Nice. I have to use the web at work, so this will be appreciated.
